The Austin Wind Symphony

If you love the music of film and television, the Austin Wind Symphony has got you covered!  Founded in June of 2005, the fifty piece 501(c) 3 volunteer organization believes that today’s classical music is usually only a movie ticket away!

“This is music that is so often underappreciated.  The composer’s role is to bring the elements of the project together, only to have it buried in sound effects, and dialogue; We exist to prove just how powerful it can be when heard live.” said Patrick Phillips, founder and conductor of the ensemble.

Austin Wind Symphony – Prelude to a Concert – Season 1: Episode 3: Winds of Change

When the ensemble learns that their friend, and vice president, Shelly Eager has come down with a bad case of the Swine Flu, Conductor Patrick Phillips asks each of the band’s members to sign a card wishing her well. Meanwhile a massive change in venue is decided upon, in order to save money, and expand into the Austin Community. The symphony rehearses music from “The Little Mermaid”, where the conductor reminds them that performing film music requires research, and should not be like performing the part of “Oliver Twist” with the voice of comedian Jeff Foxworthy.
