The Austin Wind Symphony gets a “REALITY” Check!

staytunedNew web series “Prelude To A Concert” set to premiere online this fall!

Just what does it take for a symphonic concert to come together?    Experience the band behind-the-scenes, from a whole new perspective. Witness their journey from the initial down beat of the sight-read to the last note of the grand performance!

Beginning in late September, five minute episodes will be released online featuring members of The Austin Wind Symphony.  Each of the vignettes promises to show the real face of community band, the hard work, the struggles, and the final product of the concert that up until now, has always seemed to be flawless!

Austin Wind Symphony to record score for “Automo and the Liberty League”

AutomoThe animated series produced by Kris Kidd Productions is a kid friendly, action packed robot adventure series featuring patriotic characters.

Allyn Lindsey is slated to compose the music for the online series, with the Austin Wind Symphony performing ,and recording the score.  The main titles will also be performed at the Austin Wind Symphony’s upcoming “Fantasy Film Scores” concert on October 9th, at 8pm.

“Automo and the Liberty League” begin their monthly adventures beginning January 2010.

Austin Wind Symphony Section Openings & Audition Information for Fall 2009 Season!

The Austin Wind Symphony (Austin’s VERY OWN Cinematic Symphony) is gearing up for its fall season 2009 and currently has openings in the following sections:

  • Violin/Viola
  • Trumpets
  • Clarinets
  • Flutes
  • Percussion

Please call 512-532-7944 and leave your name, instrument, and phone number to schedule an audition for Tuesday, September 1st from 6pm – 8pm at Fulmore Middle School (201 E Mary St, Austin TX).  You will be asked to sightread a short passage given at the time of the audition, and are required to have 2 selections (1 fast, 1 slow) prepared to perform.  If selected you will join the full ensemble on September 8 and begin rehearsing for the “Fantasy Film Scores” concert.

Rehearsals are each and every Tuesday evening from 7:30pm – 9:30pm at Fulmore Middle School.  The Concert will be held on October 9th, at 8pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in South Austin.

Music for “Fantasy Film Scores” includes:

• Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
• Twilight: Bella’s Lullaby
• The Little Mermaid: Symphonic Suite
• Batman (1989)
• The Twilight Zone
• Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets
• The Goonies
